Malaysian Employers Recognized for Trust in Bangladeshi Workforce

Celebrating Contributions on International Migrants Day

On December 19, 2025, the Bangladesh High Commissioner to Malaysia, Manjurul Karim Khan Chowdhury, expressed gratitude to Malaysian employers for their ongoing trust in Bangladeshi manpower. This acknowledgment underscores the crucial role that expatriate workers play in both Malaysia’s economic landscape and the developmental progress of Bangladesh.

    Expatriates: Pillars of the Economy

The High Commissioner made these remarks during an event organized by the Bangladesh High Commission in Kuala Lumpur, celebrating International Migrants Day and National Expatriates Day 2025. This year’s theme, "Going abroad with skills, building the homeland with remittances," emphasizes the benefits that skilled Bangladeshi workers bring to their host country as well as their home.

The program featured addresses from key officials, including the Chief Adviser, the Foreign Adviser, and the Adviser for Expatriates’ Welfare and Overseas Employment. It also included a documentary screening that highlighted the achievements and efforts of Bangladeshi expatriates.

    Recognition of Expatriate Contributions

To celebrate the achievements of Bangladeshi expatriates, the High Commission hosted various activities, including:

    • A discussion forum
    • A documentary screening
    • An awards ceremony for outstanding expatriates
    • A cultural program
    • A raffle draw at the G Tower hall in Kuala Lumpur

During these festivities, Chowdhury expressed his gratitude towards expatriate Bangladeshis for their invaluable contributions through remittances and shared skills, which significantly bolster the national economy.

    Encouraging Active Participation in Elections

The High Commissioner also announced that effective measures have been put in place to allow expatriates to exercise their voting rights in the upcoming national parliamentary election. He encouraged the Bangladeshi community in Malaysia to engage actively through postal ballots and urged professional, social, and political organizations to support voter registration initiatives.

    Voices of Appreciation

The event featured several prominent speakers, including:

    • Heba Abdel Latif, Chief of Mission, International Organization for Migration (IOM) Malaysia
    • Hariri bin Harun, Head of the Foreign Workers Unit, Malaysia’s Social Security Organisation
    • Dato’ Nathan K. Suppi, Vice President of the Federation of Malaysian Manufacturers
    • Dato’ Rafiq, CEO of the Construction Labour Exchange Malaysia
    • Saidur Rahman Farazi, CEO of CBL Money Transfer Malaysia
    • Rakibul Hasan, a representative of expatriate workers

These speakers praised the professionalism and dedication of Bangladeshi workers, emphasizing their critical role in Malaysia’s economic growth. They assured the audience of the Malaysian government’s commitment to worker safety and welfare, highlighting the collaborative efforts with the Bangladesh High Commission.

    Honoring Excellence

In recognition of their contributions, the High Commission honored 23 individuals and institutions from various categories among the expatriate community in Malaysia with commemorative crests and certificates, celebrating their dedication and achievements.

    Conclusion

The relationship between Malaysian employers and Bangladeshi expatriates continues to flourish, demonstrating the potential of skilled labor to impact economic growth positively. As the Bangladesh High Commissioner highlighted, continued cooperation and recognition are essential for enhancing the welfare of expatriates in Malaysia.
